Finally watched Gundam F91

It's as messy as they say, but I genuinely think there's a really solid foundation here and it's a shame Tomino wasn't allowed to fully explore it. It also has some of the weightiest portrayal of mobile suit combat in the entire franchise.
It's bittersweet but in a lot of ways, this movie represents Gundam's original golden trio at their finest. Tomino's directing is uncompromising and deliberate. Yasuhiko's character animation is maybe the most expressive and human it's ever felt. Okawara's design work shines in this movie, his mobile suits move in ways they never could have imagined back in 1979. One can only imagine what F91's impact would have been had it been allowed to flourish in its original incarnation.
Also, Hiroko Moriguchi's Eternal Wind is a generational banger.
